Qimena MCP Server: Free Qi Men Dun Jia and BaZi Tools for AI Assistants

Published

Qimena’s charting engine is available to AI assistants through a public MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard that lets an assistant such as Claude call outside tools. Once you add the server, you can ask your assistant things like “cast a Qi Men chart for now in New York and tell me which direction favors a job interview”, and it will use real chart data instead of guessing.

Connect

Server URL: https://qimena.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no authentication)

  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http qimena https://qimena.com/mcp
  • Claude (web or desktop): add a custom connector with the URL above, where your plan supports custom connectors.
  • Cursor, Windsurf and other clients: add it to the MCP settings:
{ "mcpServers": { "qimena": { "url": "https://qimena.com/mcp" } } }

Tools

ToolWhat it returns
qimen_chartA Qi Men Dun Jia chart for a moment and place (now by default): four pillars, ju, Chief Star and Door, and for each palace the deity, star, door, heaven, earth and hidden stems, void, horse star, punishment and door pressure; detected patterns; palace scores and lucky directions for a focus (general, career, wealth, love)
bazi_pillarsBaZi Four Pillars from a birth time and time zone, with daylight saving removed and true solar time from longitude; Day Master and five-element counts
best_timesThe best double-hours over the next 1 to 7 days for a goal, ranked from a full chart for every double-hour
solar_termsThe 24 solar-term instants of any year from 1900 to 2100, in UTC and Beijing time

Times are wall-clock times in an IANA time zone, for example "2027-02-06T10:00" in "Asia/Shanghai". If you leave out the longitude, the standard meridian of the time zone is used.

Try it without a client

curl -s https://qimena.com/mcp -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"solar_terms","arguments":{"year":2027}}}'

Good to know

  • Calculation only. The server does not write readings; your assistant interprets the chart. For an interpreted reading, use the free AI chart on qimena.com.
  • Rules and accuracy are documented on the calculation rules page, and the test data is published as open data.
  • Limits: about 60 requests a minute per address. If you need more, email [email protected].
  • Results are for cultural and reference use, not medical, legal or financial advice.

FAQ

Does it cost anything or need an API key?

No. The server is free and needs no key or sign-up. It only runs calculations, so it costs us almost nothing. Each address is limited to about 60 requests a minute to keep it available for everyone.

Is it the same as the charts on qimena.com?

Yes. It calls the same engine: hour-based Qi Men Dun Jia with the Chai Bu ju and the rotating plate, true solar time from longitude, the day changing at 23:00 true solar time, and solar terms within about a minute of the Hong Kong Observatory. Automated tests check that it returns the published results.

What happens to the birth data I send?

Nothing is stored. The server computes the answer and returns it in the same request; it keeps no database of requests. Your AI client may keep its own conversation history.
